“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Hello and hello

Have you ever noticed how the world is full of kind people. They are everywhere, opening doors and saying please and thank you. You have to look for them, because unless you are paying attention they are invisible, like birds in the forest.

Rude people are impossible to overlook. You remember the ones who cut you off on the freeway, yell into cell phones and make the lives of others around them worse, not better. One rude person can drown out ten polite ones.

So, to the teenage boy that held the door, the older man who offered to help me lift a case of bottled water into my car and the wonderful mom and daughter who gave us homemade jam so we could taste the pleasures of real rhubarb, I say thank you. You make the world a better place.

Best thoughts,

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential.
