Quite a few children from India wrote and asked for toys for Diwali, the Hindu New Year. So I cheerfully obliged with these little toys.

Hello and hello!

It’s October, we’re back in a rhythm and everything has settled down to a gentle roar. We did get off to a noisy and bumpy start when a water pipe broke underneath the house the same day that school started. Most houses here in California are built on concrete slabs.

Let me tell you, my friends, hearing the words “plumber” and “jackhammer” used in the same sentence can not be good! We survived and have running water now. The floor is finally being fixed so everything just might be back to peace and quiet by the end of next week.

Other than that, everything is just fine here at Casa Del Aguas. My father is home now from the convalescent hospital and comes over twice a week to visit. We play with blocks and dominos to work on his speech and hand coordination, It is a great gift.

My other happy news is that I received a call from Scholastic Books to see if I might be available to illustrate a book for them. I screamed politely into a pillow and said, “Why yes, I would be delighted.

Best thoughts,
